Who we are

The Revolux Studios Creative Team

Revolux Studios is an architecture and conservation restoration practice based in Padua, founded in 2011 as the evolution of the historic Studio Dotti. For over 40 years, we have made the restoration of cultural heritage and architectural design the core of our work, alongside a dedicated department focused on cinema, music, and design.

Our Philosophy

"I believe that architecture is the art of physically organizing space through time, according to precise principles. I have always been convinced that its foundations are timeless, while their interpretation and application continuously evolve throughout history. In fact, when we look closely, architecture does not truly invent anything new; everything has already been invented.

If this is the case, what is the future of architecture in an age of globalization, conceptual confusion, and the overlap of scenography and design, fashion and consumption? These are the trends strongly promoted by mass communication at the beginning of this century, shaping the way we define contemporary living.

We often read, see, or hear expressions such as 'living in a sculpture', 'architectural design', or 'fashion architecture', confusing a compositional work born from a rational process with a consumer object that, like any product, eventually becomes outdated and must be replaced. The consequences of consuming buildings and landscapes are well known: they create significant economic and social impacts, taking away opportunities from future generations.

So how can we distinguish a consumer product from architecture? I believe that, in order to reaffirm the identity of architecture in relation to other more or less artistic expressions, we must rediscover its disciplinary foundations and put its principles into practice. These principles define its essence and distinguish it from everything else.

In essence, I believe that preserving architecture as an evolving discipline requires returning to the knowledge of its types and models. By critically analyzing and deconstructing them into their fundamental elements, we can generate new architectures over time—architectures in which every citizen can recognize themselves.

In this way, individual authorship is surpassed and elevated by the community that embraces it. Simply put, when architecture is recognized by people as a shared cultural value, it transcends temporary trends and becomes a lasting presence. It is no longer merely the work of the person who conceived it, but becomes a heritage belonging to everyone. This is the ultimate goal of my work and, I hope, the evidence that what has been achieved throughout these thirty years of activity has been meaningful and valuable."

Education and Degree under Aldo Rossi

Born in San Giorgio delle Pertiche (Padua) in 1956, Francesco Pio Dotti graduated from the Padua Art High School and earned his degree in Architecture from IUAV University of Venice in 1980, graduating with honors under the supervision of Aldo Rossi. His thesis, a historical and design research project entitled "The Architecture of the Venetian Piazza: Analysis and Proposals", explored the relationship between urban space, architectural identity, and historical continuity.

During his university years, he collaborated on architectural projects with professors such as Carlo Aymonino, Luciano Semerani, and Bruno Minardi, including a residential project on Fifth Avenue in New York.

Professional Qualification and Practice

He obtained his professional qualification as an architect in January 1981 and began his career as an independent professional. Since 1993, his work has focused primarily on the restoration and conservation of Cultural Heritage assets, both in Italy and abroad.

He is the founder of Studio Dotti — an architecture, urban planning, and design practice — from which Revolux Studios was later established.

Specialization in Cultural Heritage Restoration

His professional activity focuses on the conservative restoration of historic buildings, churches, Venetian villas, and monumental complexes, combining architectural expertise with rigorous historical and philological research. This specialization has made the preservation and enhancement of historical and artistic heritage the core business of the studio.

Books and Publications

He is the author of numerous essays and publications on the history of Venetian and religious architecture, including "Franciscan Religious Architecture: The Site of Saint Anthony in Camposampiero" (Messaggero Edizioni, 1995) and "Bronzola: Territory, History and Architecture of a Community" (1993).

His projects and research have been published in specialized Italian and international magazines and volumes, including Architectural Digest (London, 1985).

International Recognition

In 2012, the Centre Pompidou in Paris (Musée National d’Art Moderne) requested the donation of the original drawings and documents from his university thesis, which were later exhibited in the exhibition "La Tendenza: Italian Architectures 1965–1985".

Between 2014 and 2017, as lead architect, he oversaw the conservative restoration of the Convent and Church of San Francesco a Ripa Grande in Rome. The project brochure was presented to Pope Francis and delivered to the Pontifical Administration of the Vatican City State.
