BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Francesco Pio Dotti was born on 17.2.1956 in San Giorgio delle Pertiche (PD); he completed regular lower secondary school studies at the Salesian Enrico di Sardagna Institute in Castello di Godego (TV), and upper secondary school studies at the Liceo Artistico in Padua, where he graduated in Artistic Maturity on 4.VIII.1974. In September of the same year, he enrolled at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, in the Academic Year 1974/'75, in the degree course in Architecture. On 21.XII.1977 he was appointed Associate Academic of the Accademia Tiberina, Institute of University Culture and Higher Studies.

 

In the period 1977/'78 he collaborated on the drafting of the Project for the "Arrangement of Piazza Stamira" competition in Ancona, with Professors Angelo Villa and Gianni Fabbri, professors of Architectural Composition III at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. The Project is reported and published in Italian architecture magazines. During 1979 he collaborated with Professor Bruno Minardi, professor of Architectural Composition at the University Institute of Venice, on the drafting of the project for an urban residence on top of a skyscraper on 5th Avenue in New York. The project is published in the volume "Architecture as superfetation", Milan 1994.

 

Participates in the IV Architectural Composition Course held by Professors Carlo Aymonino and Luciano Semerani at the Department of Theory and Technique of Building Design with a work on the urban recovery of a "campiello veneziano", residences and public building in the Cannaregio district in Venice. The work was published in the volume “Progetto Venezia”, Venice 1980.

 

He graduated in architecture, in the extraordinary section of the academic year 1979, on 22.III.1980 at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice with honors, with Professor Aldo Rossi, discussing a thesis on historical research associated with design architecture entitled: “The architecture of Piazza Veneta. Analysis and proposals". The thesis work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions and publications in specialized Italian and foreign books and magazines (cf. ex m. “THE SCHOOL OF VENICE”, in ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST, London, 1985).

 

In January 1981, he obtained the qualification to practice the profession of Architect by passing the State Exam held at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice and began his professional career as a freelancer with studio in Camposampiero (PD) Since 1984 Since 1993 he has been teaching at the Antonian College of Foreign Missions of the Friars Minor Conventual in Camposampiero.

 

From 1993 to today he has carried out the free profession of architect mainly dealing with the restoration and conservation of cultural heritage in Italy and abroad. He is the founder of Studio Dotti, an architecture, urban planning and design studio, of Revolux Studios S.r.l. (www.revoluxstudio.com) and Architectural Restoration (www.architecturalrestoration.com)

1993 - Writes the volume BRONZOLA, TERRITORY HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OF A COMMUNITY Bertato Editore, Villa del Conte (Padua)    1993, p. 120.  The volume narrates the story and traces the lines of urban development of a small urban center in the Upper Padua area, retracing the life of its inhabitants and the transformations of the territory. The analysis is conducted starting from the most representative building: the 9th century church and proceeds by examining those which, overlapping the original structure, followed one another from the 1500s up to the last of 1780 while preserving the locus sacratus.

1995 - Writes the volume FRANCISCAN RELIGIOUS ARCHITECTURE, THE "PLACE" OF SANT'ANTONIO A CAMPOSAMPIERO, Messaggero        Editions, Padua 1995, pp. 328. Prefaces by H. Em. Card. Antonio Ribeiro, Patriarch of Lisbon and of the Superintendent of Environmental and Architectural Heritage of Eastern Veneto, Arch. Guglielmo Monti. The volume summarizes  the analysis of Christian religious architecture from its origins to the present day starting from building types and models, noting their modifications and formal evolutions over time in relation to the liturgy. The study also includes the comparison of building types  elaborated by the various religious and monastic orders, identifying their differences and similarities. The same criterion is also used to classify within the Franciscan Order, the "places" of  Friars Minor, Capuchins and Conventuals. It is a first example of a systematic study of the settlements that can also be used for other realities of Franciscanism in Europe and in the world (the text of the volume has been translated into Latin and the edition of the book in Portuguese is forthcoming).

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS FROM INTERNATIONAL BODIES

 

2012 - Paris. The Center Pompidou, Musee National d'Art Moderne, Center de création industrielle, Collection architecture asks the architect Francesco Pio Dotti to donate to the Musee du Centre, the original works of his thesis. The author accepts with enthusiasm, and is personally thanked  by Frederic Migayou, Commissaire de l'exposition, Conservateur en chef pour l'architecture e le design. The donation was followed by the exhibition “LA TENDENZA, ITALIAN ARCHITECTURES ITALIANNES 1965 -1985, EDITED BY, DIRIGE PAR FREDERIC MIGAYROU, with its catalog published by the Center Pompidou. The Catalog has included a particularly incisive and fruitful twenty years from the cultural point of view of Italian architecture on the international scene. The various personalities, the Masters, although operating in often very different cultural fields, have been grouped into a single phenomenal container called "The Trend". Today's definition is a quotation made by Manfredo Tafuri in the second half of the seventies and concerned above all the Venetian and Roman School. The exhibition took place at the Galerie du Musée ed Galerie d'Art Graphique from 20 June to 10 September 2012 and  had an extraordinary success with critics and visitors. The event was highly publicized in the media, especially in France and Europe.

 

2014 - 2017- Brochure for S.S. Pope Francis, published by the Community of Friars Minor and Administration of the Pontifical Apostolic See S.C.V. The Brochure was written as Architect Curator of the conservative restoration of the Convent and Church of San Francesco a Ripa Grande in Rome. The document was handed over to the Holy Father on the occasion of the meeting with the Franciscan Community of Friars Minor who live in San Francesco a Ripa and concerns the history and outlines of the conservative restoration of the Church and Convent; the Franciscan complex, donated to San Francesco by the Benedictines, one of the largest deposits of Franciscan relics in existence. In it works by    restoration. The editorial work was also delivered to the Minister of the Interior, the body that owns the buildings, and to the Pontifical Apostolic Administration, Vatican City State, the body that manages the buildings with the Friars Minor.

He was born in Camposampiero in the province of Padua, in 1990. After attending middle and high school in his native town, he followed his innate artistic and design vocation, continuing his studies at the Amedeo Modigliani State Artistic High School in Padua. In parallel with his studies, he cultivates a passion for music, starting to play the electric bass and percussion. During his high school years he was a pupil of Antonio Ievolella, a well-known contemporary sculptor, where they collaborated in the design and then in the construction of the sculpture fountain of Voltabarozzo. ​

 

Also in 2009, he exhibited some illustrations at the collective exhibition organized in collaboration with the Amedeo Modigliani Art School, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Municipality of Padua and Professor Nicola Uneddu, at the main office of the municipality.

 

In 2005, he was selected during an audition for the MTV television program "School in Action", collaborating and playing with Francesco Mandelli. He obtained his artistic maturity in 2009. At the same time he increased his compositional experience, soon becoming a multi-instrumentalist. He continued his studies at the IUSVE Faculty of Sciences and Techniques of Graphic and Multimedia Communication in Venice (Mestre) where he graduated with honors in October 2014, with the supervisor and photographic critic Angelo Maggi. He is the designer selected by the institute, for the creation of the Brand Identity for the Work Shops of the faculty 2010-2011.

 

​ After some work experiences in some design studios in Italy and abroad, such as ELISAVA - Escola Internacionàl de Design de Barcelona and Koor Studio (Amsterdam), since 2007 he has been actively working for Studio Dotti, which later evolved into Revolux Studios, an important forge creative at 360 degrees in the field of design. Now he heads the department of design, communication, music and video production-recording, art brokerage & public relations.

 

 

In 2010 he was commissioned to design the web platform for Giuseppe Nalin and the Baroque Ensemble "Sans Souci", collaborating in the creation of the concept image and in the graphic structuring of the site. After having played in several different local bands, with the stage name of Chromos, in 2011, he started his musical career as a Dj and Music Producer, in different musical genres and with various active projects, ranging from Rock, Indie , Electronic, Techno, House, Progressive, Experimental, Chillout, Classical, Theme Music, Film & Spot Soundtrack.

 

In October 2013, the debut album, "Substuctures", was born and published with the independent label Revolux Studios Records. The same album is presented on the Radio Cooperative and Radio Bue stations, where some songs from the album are broadcast on the radio for the first time and performed in a subsequent Live performance at the Chapeau Rouge (Prague).

 

Important is the debut at well-known local and national festivals, such as Dissidance Electronic Festival, Ambient Connection - Festa dei Popoli (Prato della Valle - Padua), Cerebration Festival, Sherwood Festival, Blackmoon Festival and others. In December 2014 he became the creative director of Revolux Studios, and started several musical projects and collaborations with various artists. Organizes events and plays with international artists including Dj Berny, Dust, Gotalien, Ilai, Dj Yahel, Liquid Soul, and with important international record labels such as Iono Records (Germany), Kamino Records (Mexico), Beyond Logic Records (India), Nano Records (Israel), FM Booking (Israel), Iboga Records (Denmark), Looney Moon (Italy).

 

In the field of planning, a production of eco-design continues, eco-compatible modular architectural structures, installations and works of art for public and private entities, pursuing a vision and ethics that are futuristic and attentive to the problems of the future, the eco-compatibility of the design itself. In December 2014 he received his first important public assignment, the commission for the design of the commemorative monument for the quadricentenary of the death of the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi (the heir of Andrea Palladio), in collaboration with the municipality of Barbano di Grisignano di Zocco, from locate in the area adjacent to the same villa. Contingently he receives the task of writing and publishing the book relating to the design and restoration phases of the structures, in the same important complex.

 

In the creation of events, in performances, in sound design, in scenographic preparation, they come together in various collaborations and integration experiments between various artistic forms such as juggling, acting, scenography, with some emerging groups in the national context, such as Zuccone Golden, Firetales, Witches Festival, Hidesounds, Baskers, Factory Club.

In 2015 he organized his first International Music "teaser" in collaboration with the Beyond Spirit Festiva, one of the major Indian music festivals and bringing unique sounds directly to the Italian scene, directly from the original land of Goa / Psytrance music. Also in 2015 he created in collaboration with the IUAV and with the Municipality of Costa Bissara and Dr. Elisa Bastianello, the photographic history published in the book "The Fiefdom and the Castle of the Bissari, between History and Myth" published by the Omega publishing house, and the three-dimensional reconstruction of the castle and feud of the same municipality, in the various historical evolutions, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

 

In November 2015 he participated with the installation "Euterpe" (Musa) in the exhibition Nuovi Segnali, held at the Pollini Conservatory, in collaboration with the San Gaetano Altinante Cultural Center, the Municipality of Padua and under the direction and care of Guido Bartorelli.

 

On December 14, 2015, his consecration as an international artist and music producer took place. He exhibits and performs with an experimental music performance, for the first time abroad, at the ROA - Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, at the "Inside III - Expo Contemporary Art" exhibition, in one of the oldest and most prestigious English galleries, since 1821 , designed by the well-known British architect John Nash, an important point of reference for contemporary art, with the collaboration and care of Rosi Raneri and Elizabeth Mitchell D'Anna.

 

In 2016 he was contacted by the Jelmoni Studio Gallery to collaborate with various European galleries in London and Berlin, as one of the leading representatives of artistic, cultural innovation, Subvertising, Culture Jamming, Concept Street Art and Italian Brandalisms. On 12 February 2016 he was therefore invited to hold a musical performance and to exhibit at the "Flu Games Berlin II" in conjunction and in collaboration with the Berlin International Film Festival (INTERNATIONALE FILMFESTPIELE BERLIN 2016 - BERLINALE), in Berlin in the prestigious venue of the Matzfabrik, an abandoned industrial complex for the production of malt, recovered and used for the creation of events, curated by Elena Jelmoni. His works are edited and published in the general catalog of the exhibition, published by the well-known publishing house Edizioni Pulcinoelefante.

 

On March 13, 2016, he was invited to hold a musical performance and exhibit at the XI International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Rome "EXPO / EGOS XI", in the prestigious venue of the Sale del Bramante in Piazza del Popolo, curated by Rosi Raneri. This exhibition, like the Berlinale, represents a great achievement, a great and significant turning point for his artistic maturity, and a prestigious, proven recognition of his contemporary artistic research, both nationally and internationally.

 

On May 12, 2016, he has the great opportunity to participate and present his works in the Visioni Visionari exhibition at the MIIT Museum - International Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Turin and the relative publication of the works exhibited in the well-known Italia Arte magazine, with a circulation of 50,000 copies, translation of four languages and international distribution. It is the first exhibition in a museum institution, curated and supported by the art critic and museum owner Guido Folco.

 

In September 2016 he has the great opportunity to create, organize and perform at the "Feel Green Festival - A sustainable way of life" at the Lonzina Park in Torreglia Padova, Italy, a festival focused on eco-sustainability, art, bio-design and construction, renewable energy, 0 km food, live and electronic music, nature, an idea a dream that came to life with the collaboration of many volunteers, cultural associations, radio, sponsors, with the aim of enhancing local cultural resources, the art, the sharing of ideas and respect for the environment. Production of various art projects and related works, including Alex, Night Off, Jack Chester, Francis Moore ​

 

In November 2016, he exhibited for the first time in the prestigious Padova Fiere S.p.a. at ARTE PADOVA 2016 - 27 Market Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Art with Giò Art, a well-known and important gallery in the sector, for years a point of reference and promotion of Pop Art in Italy, under the direction and supervision of Giovanbattista Bevacqua.

 

In February 2017, he exhibited for the first time in the prestigious headquarters of Genova Fiere S.p.a. at ARTE GENOVA 2017 - 28th Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Art with Giò Art

In 2018 he held a performance and made the official video clip for the Birritalia - Birritaly Festival held at Parco Europa - Parcodella Musica in Padua.

 

In November 2018 Preparation of the exhibition "Occhi di Luna" by Antonio Ievolella, at the Fornace Morandi in Padua, with the patronage of the Municipality of Padua and curated by Virginia Baradel.
